2. Spring Stampede 1994
WWE.comThe Flair/Steamboat WCW Title match that main evented this show wasn't as good as their classics from 1989, but it was still a very competitive battle between two guys that knew each other so well. It just didn't feel as good as the others. That was partly because the heat wasn't as strong in this one, but they did pick it up by the end. They did the chickenwing into a double pin finish, but Flair kept the WCW Title because he was the champion. The initial thought was that Steamboat won since he delivered the move, but they kept the title on Flair. It's rare to say that the Nasty Boys had a great match because they were not that good in the ring, but they had a classic brawl with Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne in a Chicago Street Fight. They had the kind of match that we became used to in the late 1990s, but for 1994 it was unheard of. They brawled all over the arena and used weapons to tell an exciting story. The match was only about ten minutes, but you should watch it just for how crazy it is. It ended after Saggs hit Jack in the head with a shovel. Wild match. There were some solid midcard matches as well with Sting beating Rick Rude, Steve Austin over Great Muta by DQ Bunkhouse Buck over Dustin Rhodes by using brass knuckles and Vader over The Boss was an entertaining big man match too.
It was a strong card. Hulk Hogan joined WCW soon after this and dominated the main event scene for the next several years.
