8 Wild & Unscripted WWE Moments That Made Matches Better
3. Mick Foley Falls Through The Cell
In one of the most iconic images of the Attitude Era, The Undertaker sent Mick Foley soaring from the top of a 20-foot-high cell and crashing through an announce table.
It's one of those OMG moments that pretty much stopped time for anyone who witnessed it and instantly became a defining moment in Foley's career.
It also happened spawned one of the greatest Jim Ross calls of all time: "Good God almighty! Good God almighty! That killed him! As God as my witness, he is broken in half!"
But while that first swan dive tends to get all the glory in discussions and retrospectives of the match, it's the second ridiculous bump that Foley takes - the one where Undertaker chokeslams him through the Cell ceiling and onto the mat below - that was actually the most dangerous. Because unlike the first one, this wasn't supposed to happen.
Now, to be fair, there have been differing accounts as to just how planned this segment was, with Foley himself declaring it was completely unintentional, while J.R. has more recently suggested it was planned, but just didn't go quite how it was supposed to.
Either way, this deserves a spot on the list because it's clear that something went a little wrong during that second bump, as evidenced by the stunned silence of J.R. and Jerry Lawler at ringside until King finally croaked out a too-earnest "That's it, he's dead".
And even though this bump isn't quite as famous as the first, it definitely bolstered the legend of Mick Foley and helped put The Undertaker over even more than that first spot did.
