8 Worst Improvised Moments That Made It To WWE TV

5. The Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch Belt Swap Angle

It’s become more difficult to relish mocking Charlotte Flair in light of her poignant Players Tribune article - which was a sadly necessary reminder that Charlotte and indeed every performer is burdened with the same insecurities as everybody else.

The thing is though is that Charlotte Flair often brings this on herself. Not to a degree that outright abuse is justified - because it never is - but come on. You can’t act like she does all too often and not expect people to think you are a bit of a self-centred egomaniac, let’s be real.

In one of the most infamous segments in Vince McMahon’s brain-wormed end of days WWE, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch had to swap belts. This was because they were the wrong colour, and both wrestlers were switching brands between Raw and SmackDown. All they had to do was hand over the respective titles, after a bit of a cagey exchange, talk a bit of trash, and let the tension linger ahead of the match.

This didn’t happen; instead, Charlotte simply threw her belt to the ground. This wasn’t in the script. The idea was to demean Becky by making her pick it up. In Flair’s head, her ‘winning’ the fictional segment was more important than her title and the credibility of her collaborator.

Sonya Deville picked up the belt, to spare Becky’s dignity, but it did not quell her fury. Becky was reportedly so pissed off that she tried to initiate a fight with Charlotte backstage.

A nightmarish segment of television. Also: quite funny.
