8 Wrestlers Who Did Unusual Things Vince McMahon Loved

5. Brodus Clay: Looked Like A Very Specific Dinosaur

Luchasaurus might be flying the flag for pro-wrestling dinosaurs in 2020, but Brodus Clay raised eyebrows when he was transformed from an imposing monster heel to the smiling, dancing 'Funkasaurus' in 2012.

The whole thing was a giant red herring. Clay's return vignettes made fans believe that Brodus was coming back as a brute, so the reaction when he jived out as a funk-infused dancing babyface was one of mass shock. Borrowing Ernest 'The Cat' Miller's old theme and flanked by his cheerleading Funkadactyls, he hailed from 'Planet Funk,' gyrated like nobody's business, and swerved everyone.

So why did Vince bring Clay back as a dancing dinosaur and not a bruiser? Because he thought the guy looked like a dinosaur; specifically, the dad from the early-90s TV show Dinosaurs. This guy.

To be fair to Chairman, there's a semblance of a point in there as far as facial structure goes. Regardless, Vince was calling back to a relic of a show. Dinosaurs went off the air in 1994, meaning 18 years had elapsed between its demise and Brodus' rebirth. Lord knows what was going through his mind at the time.
