8 Wrestlers Who Faked Their Retirement

7. Randy Orton

There are many ways to get a rise out of the undead Undertaker. You can buy a ticket to WrestleMania and get plastered in the front row. You can threaten him with the revival of his supposedly scorched brother. You can bury the entire locker-room as being unworthy of his competition. All three raised the ire of the Phenom - and each resulted in another successful WrestleMania win.

In late 2005, Randy Orton opted for a more prosaic approach, choosing to kill his own legend if he didn't get the chance to end that of The Undertaker. The plan worked gangbusters; no sooner had The Viper squirmed his way out the ring to enjoy his early retirement than a familiar, famous knell echoed around the arena. 'Taker had bitten the bait, and received a bloody beatdown for his irascibility.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
