8 Wrestlers Who HATED Their Own Gimmicks

Vinnie Vegas may have been Magic Mike before such a thing existed, and the pros and cons of Diesel are well documented, but Kevin Nash deserves all the credit in the world for getting his career to that point in time. That's especially true considering his first mainstream wrestling gimmick was to look like the world's silliest wizard.

In Nash's defence, it was 1991 in WCW and the whole package was not his idea.

The usually reliable Dusty Rhodes had come up with the gimmick, and Nash was just doing a job where he'd been asked to adopt silver hair, a neon green cloak and pointy hat, and to portray a character that riffed on the Wizard Of Oz. He went on to lose pretty consistently to the company's more viable talent.

Nash has a famously good sense of humour about the gimmick, always being keen to point out the fact that Oz is the geographical setting of the story and not the character; which somehow makes the whole concept even stupider. Big Kev maintains to this day that the whole gimmick was set up as one big rib.
