8 Wrestlers Who Predicted Their Own Deaths
4. Owen Hart
The days leading up to Over the Edge are depicted as rather ominous on Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring.
Martha Hart explained how the WWF changed their original plans for Owen's descent one week before the pay-per-view. She remembers being on the phone to someone from the company and hearing that they planned to use a quick release mechanism, but needed to run through things with Owen first. She was worried, but Owen told her WWF would no doubt have the best team for the job. That, as it turned out, was false hope.
By the time he arrived in Kansas City for the show, Hart was oddly nervous. Jim Ross recalled how hesitant he was when they shook hands earlier that day. Something just didn't seem right. X-Pac said in various interviews that whole day just felt off, from the time they landed at the airport that morning to Owen's accident that night.
The day before the fatal accident, Owen drove to the airport in Calgary with his son Oje, which was uncommon. Oje waved his dad off to work, with Owen saying to him right before walking off with his bag to catch the plane, "Look after your mom and sister,” before giving Oje a hug and leaving him with his grandmother. With what we know now, those final words would become poignant.
