8 Wrestlers Who Should Compete In A NXT Title Tournament

1. Adam Cole

Not so fast, bay bay.

Dave Meltzer believes Adam Cole is the most viable candidate to replace Tommaso Ciampa as NXT Champion, and there's a crap ton of merit to his argument. Cole, who was the first North American Champ and has yet to taste the top prize, has been ready for a good while now.

Picture this: Cole beats someone like Ricochet or Keith Lee in the first round, overcomes his Undisputed Era pal Roderick Strong in the semi finals and then goes head-to-head with Johnny Gargano at TakeOver: New York for all the marbles. Then, Strong can show his allegiance to Cole by helping him win and NXT has a brand new baron.

From there, Gargano can waltz off back to the main roster and work his tail off to make a splash there. It's a win-win situation. Cole beats the former champ's best friend, Gargano has another TakeOver classic to further arm himself with and NXT has a champion again.
