The ship had long-since sailed on the original Sin Cara's hopes of WWE success by the time he wrestled fellow Mexican Alberto Del Rio on the 19 August 2013 episode of Raw. A lethal combination of injuries, crowd apathy, botches and the fact Cara didn't ever look like he was a good fit for the company had mounted up.

Things would get worse when he bailed on the Del Rio match just one minute in.

It was clear that Alberto couldn't believe his compatriot's decision to call for a referee stoppage due to a (rather nasty looking, in fairness) dislocated finger. Visibly fuming, Del Rio re-entered the ring after the match and delivered some stiff-looking boots to Sin Cara. That had to be a message, and a painful one for the already-hurt masked man.

Sin Cara's finger was injured when he performed a dive to the outside onto Del Rio. Immediately afterwards, he rolled around on the mats and signalled to the official that he was done for the night. Místico, the first to play the Sin Cara character, was released later the same year.
