Santino Marella's career has been secure for an incredibly long time in the WWE, ever since his gradual change to a straight-up comedy character, fitting in perfectly with the company's kid-friendly product. His largely harmless antics on the lowercard delighted younger fans for many years, and he still occasionally makes appearances on the WWE Network. However, Santino hasn't been seen regularly on television since his third neck injury (and subsequent surgery) in mid-2014. Of all the places to suffer a recurring injury in professional wrestling, the neck is definitely one of the worst. It has cut short a career of many a worker - as we'll see later in the list - and greatly heightens the risk of paralysis, or even death, during continued competition. Although Marella's career has been cut short, especially given the potential longevity of his character, it must be seen as a wise decision to appear in a reduced role from now on.
