8 WWE Elimination Chamber Statistics You Need To Know
6. Long And Short Of It
The Elimination Chamber is not designed to be a short bout. With four of the competitors locked in pods released at regular intervals, the match almost hast to go at least 20 minutes and often tops a half-hour.
It’s interesting to note though that the Elimination Chamber match has not topped 40 minutes, as the longest chamber match to date is the inaugural 2002 bout, at 39:20. That chamber match featured Shawn Michaels’ return to WWE on a more regular schedule, defeating bitter rival Triple H for what would amount to a one-month rental of the World Heavyweight Championship.
The shortest chamber match on record came the following year, with the 2003 chamber match lasting 19:12. That bout came at SummerSlam, with Goldberg doing 90% of the damage, eliminating three, but Triple H defending his title with a little help from his sledgehammer.
If the intervals for each pod opening shorten – say to three minutes – we could potentially see something shorter, but it’s doubtful we’ll see something go longer than 40 minutes, at least not with two chamber matches per PPV.
