3. Roman Reigns Crushes Rusev
Ah, now here's a familiar refrain: monster heel built up to look strong ahead of climactic clash opposite company's preferred babyface, only to lose decisively to the chagrin of all, halting their momentum in the process and souring fans even further on the over-pushed hero.
That was the narrative of John Cena's eventual dismissal of Rusev at WrestleMania 31. Expect a similar story here.
Since that Cena defeat, Rusev suffered a torrid time of it on WWE television. Repeatedly handed absolutely duff angles and opponents, his career began to fade faster than a Soviet propaganda poster on a dilapidated Eastern bloc panelák (yes I know he's reverted to his home nation).
The Roman Reigns feud has seen him revitalised, to the point where we can take him seriously again. In fact, the Bulgarian Brute has been so good as late that he's the undeniable face going into this contest.
Which is a problem for WWE; he's just the latest in a line of projects designed to win Roman over with disillusioned fans. So Reigns has to win. And the plan will fail. Again.
