8 WWE PPVs The Undertaker Main-Evented (That He Shouldn't Have)
4. SummerSlam 2015 (Vs. Brock Lesnar)
What should have main-evented: John Cena vs. Seth Rollins
Admittedly, this one is a bit trickier. Given that Brock ended the streak, it’s natural at first to say their rematch should have main-evented any show, even when Cena and Rollins were in a title-for-title match for the US and WWE Championships. Plus, that match had an incredibly dumb finish, with Cena getting clonked with a chair by Jon Stewart so Rollins could steal the win.
However, what gives Cena-Rollins the edge is that Brock and ‘Taker’s finish was one of the most ludicrous and nonsensical piece of booking in ages.
So, Brock had ‘Taker in the kimura lock, and in a rare instance, ‘Taker tapped, and the bell was rung. However, the referee didn’t see this, and despite having never ever done this before, the timekeeper had gone rogue and rung the bell when he saw ‘Taker tap. In the confusion, ‘Taker low blowed Brock and put him in Hell’s Gate, to which Brock passed out. ‘Taker was declared the winner, Paul Heyman grabbed a mic and said Brock actually won, and everyone left confused and dumbfounded.
At least with Cena and Rollins, the crowd would have ended the show cheering on Rollins as he celebrated with both titles. With ‘Taker and Brock, people were just scratching their heads trying to parse out the twisted logic of the finish.
