8 WWE Royal Rumble Winners Who Put Their Title Shot On The Line
5. The Rock (2000)
No stranger to controversy during his wrestling career, The Rock became the fourth man in five years to have his WWF Championship match at WrestleMania taken from him. Unlike a few of the aforementioned Royal Rumble winners, it wasn't of his own doing; he was forced to put his title shot on the line against the The Big Show after he claimed his feet touched the floor before Rock's. Always up for a challenge, The Brahma Bull fought valiantly against Show at No Way Out the following month with his WWF title shot up for grabs, but came up short after being cost the match by special guest referee Shane McMahon. Although it appeared Show vs. Triple H was set in stone for WrestleMania 2000, Rock was eventually placed back into the main event of The Show of Shows along with Mick Foley. The Game was successful at the event in retaining his title despite being up against the odds. At Backlash, Rock finally got his one-on-one championship opportunity against HHH and came out on top, though fans argue it was one month too late.
