8 WWE Stars Who Worked (By Not Working)

2. Roman Reigns

Nobody is hated quite as vehemently as Roman Reigns in today's WWE.

Watch any of Roman's matches and boos ring out as soon as his entrance music blares over the sound system, this despite it being the same song that was used to herald the arrival of The Shield up until a few years ago. Any positivity from fans towards Reigns from back then has dissipated quite dramatically since he struck out on his own as WWE's new pet project.

Vince McMahon would dearly love for Roman to be embraced as a babyface titan to rival Hulk Hogan, but it blatantly isn't going to happen. That fact doesn't mean Reigns hasn't been a success.

The potential is there to turn Roman Reigns into a heel who is blissfully unaware of the hatred, or even to book him as a star who chooses to ignore the haters and focus on fighting for those who believe in him.

Everything seems to be pointing towards the latter approach. Writing Roman to beat (and possibly retire) The Undertaker at WrestleMania is surely not a decision WWE would have taken were they still harbouring hopes that Reigns will magically be accepted by everyone watching.

Loud boos or not, it's nonetheless true that Reigns is someone fans react to like he's a big deal.
