To call The Shield the greatest WWE stable of all-time is debatable, but there is little doubt that they were the best booked faction in recent memory, if not ever. In addition to going undefeated for nearly seven months and clinching championship after championship, all three members of the group emerged as main event level stars.

Two years removed from their abrupt breakup, each of them have held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at least once, though Seth Rollins has had the most consistent story of them all. His Shield stint spoke for itself, but his reasoning for destroying the group from within was well-established: he preferred fame and glory over brotherhood.

His quickly reaped the benefits of his betrayal of Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns when he became the Mr. Money in the Bank and later the WWE World Heavyweight champion. Throughout his lengthy title reign he remained loyal to The Authority but, since returning from injury, he has declared himself a lone wolf.

He hasn't needed anyone to maintain his main event status, and he proved that at Money in the Bank with his decisive victory versus Reigns. His second WWE title run was short-lived, however, due to Ambrose's opportunistic Money in the Bank cash-in. A gradual change in character (i.e. slowly going babyface) seems to be the only logical turn his sensational story will take next.
