It says a lot that even when Vince McMahon had 'moved on' from Hulk Hogan in favour of The Ultimate Warrior, the new poster boy champ didn't headline WrestleMania on his own. 1992 proved that the Warrior experiment was over, and McMahon again relied on the tired Hulkamania steam train to carry 'Mania XIII in the headline slot against new monster Sid Justice.

By SummerSlam, both halves of the 'Mania main event were gone and it was up to Bret Hart and The British Bulldog to main event the WWF's first ever UK-based pay-per-view. Like trying to compare chalk with cheese, both matches highlighted the differences being Hogan-led entertainment and Hart-branded in-ring wrestling.

There was nothing especially wrong with Hogan vs. Sid at WrestleMania, but it could never hope to match the slick exchanges between Bret and Bulldog. Running close to 30 minutes, the SummerSlam headliner was the only essential match on the card and the promotion's best singles match main event of the year.
