8 WWE Superstars Lucky To Not Be Released
5. Jack Swagger
Jack Swagger is a classic example of a professional wrestler facing the end of the road. Finding relative success as both the All-American American and the American Patriot, it's now time for Swagger to be moved on.
Swagger's only purpose these days is to appease American WWE fans on certain occasions such as the 4th of July or the annual Tribute to the Troops show. As WWE found out during the 2014 story featuring Swagger representing America (good) and Rusev representing Russia (bad), not everyone who watches WWE programming thinks the United States is as star-spangled-awesome as the company does.
While the anti-immigration angle with Zeb Colter was brilliant while it lasted, Swagger offers little more than feel good Americana. As WWE has become a prominent facet of pop culture outside of the US, that character is only relatable to a portion of WWE's audience.
To make matters worse for Swagger, his athleticism is no longer as impressive as it once was when pitted against the heavyweights of yesteryear. His sporadic appearances on Superstars do little to impress new or old viewers, indicating that it's time for this former World Heavyweight Champion to be wished luck in his future endeavours.
