9 Awful Proposed WWE Gimmicks That Thankfully Never Made It To TV
5. Doppleganger Maria
When Maria was fired by the WWE in February 2010 she gave a series of interviews in which she criticised the company for the direction of its Divas division. Her biggest gripe was that the writers didn't give the divas any storylines which they could really run with and turn into something good. She may have had a point. But Maria did at least do something about it, pitching storyline ideas for her character to management. They were a little weird, to say the least. One idea was for Maria to play two different characters at the same time: one the usual ditzy blonde Maria and the other a dark-haired, dark attitude rock chick. Both incarnations of Maria would be dating the same wrestler, who inexplicably wouldn't realise they were one and the same. Maria said that she would eventually ask for a title shot, throw a can into a mirror and the two Maria's would merge as one 'super Maria'. Clearly, she had been watching a little too much Hannah Montana. The creative team rejected her idea, since it was a logistical nightmare and too farfetched, even by WWE's standards.
