4. 'Spacecore' Holly

Hardcore Holly is a guy that never really seemed to have a true 'gimmick'. He was just a surly redneck who hated everyone and liked to beat people up. This was quite similar to his actual attitude and backstage demeanour, if some reports are to be believed (although Holly himself refutes this). When ECW on SyFy debuted on the summer of 2006, the creative department were told to come up with ideas for gimmicks that had a supernatural/science fiction edge to them. Former WWE writer Court Bauer mentioned during a 2011 interview with F4wonline that he had pitched an idea for Hardcore Holly to go into outer space with a pet monkey. Apparently the proposed plan included WWE announcing that they were working with NASA then Holly would resurface after a short while, clad in an astronaut suit and accompanied to the ring by a pet monkey. Apparently Stephanie McMahon was both amused and disturbed by the idea. But, alas, Spacecore Holly never made it to air. It's hard to know how close it came to becoming a reality but it sounds like a joke that got out of hand. The idea of Holly being managed by a spacesuit wearing monkey is a hilarious one, mind. There was also a rumour that Holly and Eugene were going to form an odd couple tag team who would be accompanied to the ring by a chimp around 2007. It never happened.
