9 Biggest Opportunities WWE Missed At Wrestlemania 32

3. Making Shane/Taker One Of The Most Iconic Matches In WrestleMania History

It was close. In fact, people probably don't realise just how close it was. With Undertaker slumped against the barricade looking at the human pizza that used to be Shane McMahon, all the hard work had been done to turn an enthralling match into one of the most defining moments in WWE history.

The future of both the company and one of its most iconic servants was on the line in a contest that had just seen one of the most heart-stopping spots in recent memory. A man - not even a professional wrestler - who about 2 months ago was an upper-management type in a floundering electronics venture, had flown 20ft straight down through a table, and was now on his knees beckoning for more. Nobody could believe what they were seeing.

All that had to happen next, was anything except the predictable finish. Anything except the Undertaker dragging him back to the ring for a Tombstone and a pinfall. A run-in maybe, a cheap shot out of nowhere, a heart-attack, anything to flip the balance inexplicably back in Shane's favour. But no.

The power to alter the very landscape of WWE was right there, and they didn't do it. The power to give the fans a match that would be talked about for decades was right there, and they didn't do it. The night they could have seen Shane McMahon nearly kill himself in front of his children, upset the biggest name in the industry, and wrestle control of the company off the man who's choking it to death.

But instead RAW will kick off this week exactly as it ended the last, and The Undertaker will disappear for months before being wheeled out for another WrestleMania showcase. Vince McMahon's clearly not a man who's overly worried about the number of regrets he'll have on his death bed, but as viewing figures continue to plummet in 2016 this might well be one of them.
