9 Early Predictions For TNA Bound For Glory 2017

7. The Grand Championship Will Be Changed

At Bound for Glory 2016, Aron Rex defeated Eddie Edwards by split decision to become the first Impact Grand Champion in history. Edwards was a replacement for Drew Galloway, who had to give the show a miss due to a neck injury and was largely backed to become the inaugural champion.

TNA is trying something new with this three-round style title, incorporating some MMA influences into the mix, but so far it just hasn't clicked. This could change, but the style just doesn't seem to fit in with professional wrestling. Maybe it was the lack of Galloway and the forced portrayal of Rex, but the total lack of story really hurt this match and subsequently the title.

The Grand Championship isn't likely to be jettisoned anytime soon, but by the time BFG 2017 comes around I wouldn't be surprised to see the round system abandoned entirely. What's wrong with a secondary title that is just that, a secondary title?

TNA would be wise to go the fighting champion route, and have the Grand Championship be held by someone like Edwards or Davey Richards, defending it week by week.
