Hulk Hogan's lawyers are battling the Gawker website in a $100 million lawsuit. The Hulkster is alleging invasion of privacy and negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress over the publishing of his sex tape with Heather Clem. The story has been in the media spotlight and it is hardly the thing that WWE want young fans seeing when they google Hulk Hogan. It isn't his fault, but it is damaging to his image. In turn, that's damaging to WWE's image. The company is in a super sensitive frame of mind as they look to cosy up to corporate sponsors and better commercial opportunities. That's why they're PG entertainment, they're looking to get away from wrestling's seedy image. You only need to look at how disappointing the television rights fees were last year to see how WWE's seedy image hurts the company. Getting rid of a wrestler who's involved in a very public sex tape row is maybe a good thing.
