9 Factors In WWE Decision To Get Rid Of Hulk Hogan

5. WWE's Changed Priorities

When WWE signed Hulk Hogan at the start of 2014, there was a company focus on nostalgia. It was around the launch of the WWE Network and the thirtieth anniversary of WrestleMania, so it made sense to have major classic names on board. But in 2015, there's been a cultural shift in WWE. Nostalgia isn't as valuable as it once was, as new names and greater athleticism have come to the fore. This has been typified by the NXT project, which is now revitalising WWE's Diva division and providing new stars like Kevin Owens to the main roster. That's the route WWE want to go down, fresh and athletic. Hulk Hogan is none of these things. He was an unnecessary cost, which can now pay several new recruits to the performance center.
