2007 was poised to be the biggest year of Ken Kennedy's life. The prevailing feeling is that he was eventually to be named as the illegitimate son of Vince McMahon, leading to an absolute monster of a push to the very top of the company. He almost won Money in the Bank that year, but everything came to an abrupt halt when he was suspended for violating the company Wellness Program. Whoops.

Kennedy stayed near the top of the card however, and ended the year feuding with Michaels. As per a lot of Michaels' feuds around this time it centred around a new superstar looking to knock HBK off his perch, only to find this easier said than done.

Michaels picked up the victory in their first meeting, but on the last RAW of 2007 Kennedy got his revenge, pinning Michaels clean after debuting his new finishing move, the Mic Check.
