ECW was never the home of the most well adjusted fan. Often theyd bring in their own foreign objects for wrestlers to hit each other with. However, Mick Foley tells the story of being in the ring and seeing a weird and creepy sign in the crowd simply saying Cane Dewey Dewey being his then three-year-old son. Of course, Foley told that story first as part of a heel promo, so in many ways hes only made things worse over the years. Then theres the funny signs, the silly signs (you know, the ones that appear as screengrabs on wrestling fan forums followed by multiple emoticons to signify amusement); the signs that betray a smarkish knowledge of backstage intrigue; the signs that say hello to their mothers, their pets and the backyard wrestling promotions they bump for; and the insulting signs, carefully drawn up by people whove shelled out a couple of hundred dollars and driven for a few hours, only to scream abuse at someone who may not even be playing a bad guy. And, of course, theres the misogynist signs especially for the female talent, most of which arent repeatable on a nice, sweet, family website like this. But if youre curious, have a peek at this video that collects a selection of the signs brought in especially for Attitude Era super-Diva Sable in 1998: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBeynVT6iEc Incidentally, Mangina Mike? Its a little disturbing that you went to the trouble of compiling that video in the first place. Just saying.
