9 HUGE WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2020 Predictions You Need To Know

7. Timothy Thatcher Vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Ugh.

Look, nobody is suggesting that Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa are likely to have a bad match at TakeOver: WarGames, but a) that's not the only bar and hasn't been for a very long time, and b) even if it's something approaching good, how many people actually want to see it?

The latter is the big question NXT haven't tried to answer in the last few weeks. At Halloween Havoc, Ciampa appeared to reveal the latest tweak in his character when he spoke of being miserable with the current black-and-gold roster. If any spirit on that show was kindred - especially on that night - it was Thatcher. And yet, a singles match has arrived with barely the pretence of a build.

Ciampa looked on as Thatcher won matches way too late to get back over, then they brawled after Thatcher tried to teach a class about interference. This felt like it was foreshadowing a finish about how the former NXT Champion should have been paying more attention. And then maybe he will. Anything to get them as partners rather than opponents.

Winner - Timothy Thatcher
