9 Insane Real-Life Randy Savage Stories

2. Backs Out Of Hogan Fight After Years Of Asking For It

By the time 2004 rolled around, Savage was a shell of the performer he once was and was apparently in such a bad way that he couldn't even be bothered to sucker punch Hulk Hogan, whom he had been calling out for years (and even released a rap diss-track on). TNA, then still an upstart company with enormous potential, signed Savage to a short-term deal in late 2004 to work a six-man tag at their Turning Point PPV. Savage's behaviour, however, was erratic. Apparently the Macho Man would sit in his trailer for most of the day and drink and then demanded that he be given the TNA World Title in his next PPV appearance. That wasn't going to happen, obviously, but Savage's short TNA run featured an even more bizarre incident. Hulk Hogan was backstage at Victory Road and went to back peace with Randy, who completely ignore him. According to those present, Hogan was speaking in a completely civilised manner to Savage, but Randy wanted none of it. After his attempted reconcilliation fell on deaf ears, Hogan offered Savage to 'step outside'. Again, Randy declined and later quit TNA citing an 'unsafe working environment'. Savage's behaviour was certainly erratic at the time. He'd been calling out Hogan for years and years and when the time came to fight him, he simply declined. The former Mega Powers buried the hatchet in 2010 when they ran into each other in a doctor's waiting room.
