The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin’s WrestleMania trilogy of matches is considered legendary for the way they captivated fans with their charismatic promos and thrilling bouts and the fact they were two Mount Rushmore wrestlers going one on one in their primes.

The last in the trilogy took place at WrestleMania 19, with Austin planning it to be his last match ever, with years of bumps taking too much of a toll on his neck. He even had ‘OMR’ on his ring vest that night that stood for ‘One More Round’ to signify it. But Austin went into WrestleMania 19 in a bad way, with him being hospitalized the night before. Austin has said “I was severely dehydrated, drinking way too much wine at night, drinking way too much coffee and all those caffeine drinks I had before I worked out. And after running so hard for so long, it finally caught up with me and the s–t hit the fan and my heart just wigged out.”

Jim Ross has revealed Rock and Austin were scheduled to headline and close WrestleMania 19 had Austin not been hospitalized. Austin has even divulged he wasn’t medically cleared going into his match with Rock, with Austin essentially clearing himself. This would never happen in WWE now but things were looser and different back then. Austin didn’t want to let down Rock or the 54,000 fans in attendance down that night. Luckily for everyone Austin was able to go out and wrestle his last match.
