9 Last-Minute WWE Disasters That Came So Close To Ruining WrestleManias!
3. Kurt Angle And Brock Lesnar Are Broken Men Going In And Out - WrestleMania XIX
Kurt Angle tangling with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 19 is astonishing when you consider the serious neck injury Angle had going in and the severe concussion Lesnar had coming out of it.
The Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle broke his neck multiple times in the run-up to WrestleMania 19 when facing off against ‘The Next Big Thing’ Brock Lesnar. First in November 2003 on SmackDown when Lesnar cracked a steel chair with force over his head and second at No Way Out when Angle hit the turnbuckle wrong. Angle has revealed he was in such excruciating pain from these injuries that it’s what ultimately led him to becoming hooked on and addicted to painkillers. WWE started scrambling when Kurt’s neck issues became apparent, with Chris Benoit being pencilled in to replace him. Angle, wanting the WrestleMania spotlight, fought through the pain and chose to get neck surgery after his WrestleMania match.
Brock Lesnar meanwhile caused dread backstage when he overshot his Shooting Star Press in the match, with Angle revealing recently he thought Brock died when he hit the canvas. Both men somehow finished the match to the amazement of everyone.
