9 Laws Of Physics That Only Exist In Wrestling

3. The Referee Frailness Field

One of the most time-honored tropes of professional wrestling is the ref bump; that is, any slight jostling of a referee is sufficient to render him irretrievably unconscious until such a time as cheating has taken place. Now, this could be explained easily by the well-known generally poor health of the pro graps official. He is sickly, malnourished, and possibly leprotic. But how, then, to explain the curious fragility of the special guest referee?

It has repeatedly been observed that normally healthy, resilient wrestlers -- who are dropped on their heads for a living, mind -- seem to lose all semblance of their physical might when wearing the stripes. If Brock Lesnar were fitted with a sleeveless ref shirt, he could be rendered comatose by having a Lucha Dragon errantly whipped into him. The only possible conclusion, then, is that the referee shirts themselves emit a sort of "frailty field", a bubble of thinner air that surrounds the referee and causes him to be easily fatigued. The next time you groan at a ref bump, just remember: that little dude is basically officiating the match from the peak of Mount Everest, so cut him some slack.
