9 Live Observations From ROH Supercard Of Honor XV

8. The Briscoe Brothers (c) Vs. FTR

This was every bit the dream tag match it was sold as. And f*cking then some.

It's still unknown if The Briscoes will make it into AEW due to TBS/TNT having various concerns with their prior ill-advised remarks, but the 12-time ROH Tag Team Champions did at least get this monster cross promotional booking with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler after the duos got into a brawl at Final Battle.

What followed was part-fight, part dramatic and artistic masterpiece. A bloody southern style tag that somehow fused all the modern aspects of both pairs' offence, the building became a furnace from the first seconds, with the roof finally being blown to smithereens when the wrestlers simply locked up.

The absorbing war that followed immediately became part of Match Of The Year discussion, particularly when a mid-match mutual respect scene resulted in FTR pivoting from situational heels to babyfaces all to tee up running of The Young Bucks when they committed a post-match assault.

FTR took the titles, but it didn't even feel like a headline at the end compared to Young Bucks heat-seeking run-in. That sequel will play out Wednesday. Hopefully a wait for a sequel to this minor classic doesn't take so long to sort.
