9 Match Star Ratings For AEW Fyter Fest
4. Hangman Page Vs. MJF Vs. Jungle Boy Vs. Jimmy Havoc
An exciting showcase match that mostly achieved what it set out to do - the crowd didn't see much of the real Jimmy Havoc, a necessary measure given the extreme tone the show developed later - this was mostly engaging, if nothing particularly substantial.
MJF is the best.
He cut a scathing, hilarious promo on the gamers in attendance, who did not take kindly to it at all. Magic. In the match itself, he developed his entitled ar*ehole character by weaseling his way into pinning predicaments, capitalising on the hard work of others - particularly Jungle Boy, who in a standout performance blazed through the field in an early fit of exuberance and inexperience. MJF is also a nasty piece of sh*t, and his head-dropping repertoire reflected that he isn't a mere comedy act, even though he is the funniest.
The match built well enough to the MJF/Hangman Page showdown, and Page's explosive power game looked awesome in this melee context. He at one point rocked Jungle Boy very hard in the face with a big boot in a determined performance.
Full of character, this is where the show excelled: the storytelling was broad but not simple, comprehensible but creative - accessible but not insulting/tedious to a prospective mainstream audience.
