WWE has acted quickly to diffuse the horrific Enzo Amore situation, releasing Enzo and declaring the Cruiserweight Championship vacant. Daniel Bryan announced on 205 Live that the situation is going to be resolved next week, meaning there will be no 205 Live participation at the Rumble (outside of a potential comical elimination in the eponymous match).

While rushing the title situation may have been detrimental to the division, WWE should have made the decision to crown a new champion at the Royal Rumble. It would have given the division a fresh spotlight on a major show, and could feasibly have acted as a hard reset for the cruiserweight performers.

WWE should have announced a Fatal 4-Way Ladder Match for the title, with four qualifiers on this week’s 205 Live. Hideo Itami, Drew Gulak, Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali could have lit up the early part of the Rumble pay-per-view, redefining cruiserweight wrestling in WWE. As it is, Gulak will likely be eliminated in ‘hilarious’ fashion by a nostalgic entry in the Rumble match.
