9 Minor WWE Royal Rumble 2018 Changes That Would Make A Major Difference

5. No Kane, Absolutely No Kane

For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, Kane is challenging for a World Championship in the main event of a pay-per-view in 2018. It was preposterous when the Big Red Machine attempted to wrest the WWE Championship from Seth Rollins in 2015, and from Daniel Bryan in 2014. There are questions of whether he should be on the roster full stop, let alone in a WWE Universal Championship match.

It doesn’t take a long-time wrestling fan to see that Kane is in this match to take the fall. WWE has booked itself into a corner with Brock Lesnar’s title reign, as it has been apparent for months that it ends at WrestleMania 34 against Roman Reigns. Every title defence has been somewhat inconsequential as a result.

WWE is reticent about jumping into a second singles match with Lesnar and Strowman, but this offered them an opportunity to right the wrongs of the first match. A short violent match between the two beasts could have led to a rematch at Elimination Chamber, keeping Brock and Braun busy until the Show of Shows.

Whatever the decision, Kane should be absolutely nowhere near this match. Or this event. Or this roster. He is a genuine legend who will walk into the Hall of Fame - but this is too much.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
