9. He Was Responsible For The Blood Ban

Fans who bemoan WWE's banning of the use of blood - "getting color" - in matches, you apparently have Shawn Michaels to blame. He says that before their match at The Great American Bash, he went to Vince McMahon to ask permission to bleed in the bout, stressing the importance for the story they were trying to tell. The boss went back and forth, citing the usual sponsorship excuse, but ultimately relented and gave the go-ahead. The problem was that Shawn was only allowed to bleed a little bit, and he claims that was his intent, but instead he opened up a gusher and wound up looking like a Leatherface victim. McMahon was furious and from that point on he decreed that blood was banned from all future wrestling matches. With the hepatitis scares and the changing culture among society one could argue that this isn't a bad thing, but old school fans who fondly remember the bloodbaths of the golden years will always pine for a less sanitized edge to their pro wrestling.
