9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Dream Matches
1. Brock Lesnar Vs. Goldberg (WrestleMania XX)
Lesnar and Goldberg made amends for the damp squib that was their WrestleMania XX encouner with a pulsating sequel earlier this year. Well, almost made amends.
The truth is this one will forever take pride of place at the top of any list of disappointing matches, especially since it was the only opportunity we got to see two of the most dominant wrestlers in history in the same ring in their prime years.
With the Madison Square Garden crowd intent that they were going to ruin the spectacle by showing the two competitors exactly what they thought of the news they were heading for greener pastures, the atmosphere was flat from the beginning, and the slow pace at which the competitors went about their match did little to lift them.
In the end, we couldn't wait for the match we were once all desperate to see be brought to an end, which it was after a routine Spear, Jackhammer, then Stone Cold-counted pin. There were no fireworks, no out-of-ring action, no nothing. And, up until 12 months ago, that was Goldberg's WWE legacy.
