9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Dream Matches

2. Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels (SummerSlam 2005)

For a disappointment, you have to at least acknowledge that SummerSlam 2005's main event is probably one of the most re-watchable matches in WWE history.

Its appeal though, is derived not from the quality of the wrestling on show, but rather the fact that Shawn - unhappy that he was forced to do the job, without the opportunity to level the scores down the road - spent the entire match over-selling Hogan's moves with often hilarious results.

But although 50-something Hogan was, to be fair, never likely to put in an in-ring masterclass (something he seldom did in his 30s either, for that matter) we were ultimately denied - because of ego - a bout that might have mirrored his WrestleMania X8 encounter with The Rock in terms of audience reaction.

Instead of generating Toronto SkyDome-style electricity, though, the fans were mainly just laughing - in some cases audibly - as HBK took all the intensity out of the encounter by allowing the Hulkster to toss him around and out of the ring like a rag-doll.
