9 Next WWE Steps For Randy Orton
With all that Brock Lesnar drama firmly behind him, what could be next for Randy Orton?
For Randy Orton, this past summer was an eventful one.
Having returned from shoulder surgery back in July, he was immediately thrust into a blockbuster program with Brock Lesnar for SummerSlam. Ultimately though, the biggest talking point to come from that megastar meeting was the fact that the company chose to have Orton busted open the hard way, and in pretty brutal fashion at the hands (or rather, the elbow) of Lesnar.
The ensuing drama soon died down, although it then emerged that as well as a sizeable gash in his head, Orton was also nursing a concussion from that SummerSlam skirmish with Lesnar. Which, of course, is a pretty controversial subject in wrestling in this day and age.
Since then though, things have seemed to calm down a bit. A scarcely-promoted house show rematch with Lesnar finally put their angle to bed once and for all, allowing Orton to move on to pastures anew.
This article looks into what exactly those pastures might consist of, as we count down some potential next steps for Randy Orton off the back of a rather eventful summer.
9. Loosen Up!
Before we discuss any possible opponents or feuds for Orton, I want to address his character briefly.
When he first returned, he seemed somewhat rejuvenated. All smiles and sunshine, he was bantering with the crowd and cracking jokes with Chris Jericho on the Highlight Reel. Basically, he looked like he was having fun, and it showed in the way he carried himself.
Since then though, I feel like there’s been a slight change in Orton’s demeanour. All that effervescence seems to have drained away, his promos have become a little more vapid and monotonous, and he just doesn’t appear to enjoying himself quite so much (perhaps that has something to do with the company sentencing him to a legit mauling from a near-300 pound UFC fighter at SummerSlam, but I digress).
Regardless of the reasoning behind it (if indeed there is any reasoning at all), I feel like Orton could do with loosening up a little and showing that kind of vibrancy that marked his initial return to the company during July and early August.
