9 Next WWE Steps For Randy Orton

Perhaps the graver promo style has something to do with the fact that Orton’s currently embroiled in a rivalry with Bray Wyatt, something that (in storyline at least) shouldn’t necessarily be a laughing matter.

Still, despite the slight change in tone, Orton’s verbal sparring with Wyatt has at least produced some moments of excitement, most notably in the form of these backstage mind games that we saw playing out on SmackDown this week.

After Wyatt challenged Orton to “seek him out”, this prompted a series of clips in which Orton did exactly that, following a number of clues in eerily-lit recesses of the arena, before eventually sneaking up on Wyatt from behind and sending him fleeing in retreat. Oh, and then he put on that creepy sheep mask and the screen glitched out before Orton somehow transformed into Wyatt...

As weird as it was, this was certainly something novel and a refreshing twist on the usual back-and-forth promos we’ve been seeing between these two. Bottom line; let’s have some more of this weird, avant-garde mind games malarkey, please.
