8. David Arquette

In fairness to David Arquette, even he could see that pro wrestling fans would hate the idea of him as WCW World Champion, accepting the storyline with great hesitancy. A lifelong fan himself, the weedy actor was crowned WCW Champ in April 2000 by pinning Eric Bischoff in a tag-team match also involving Diamond Dallas Page and Jeff Jarrett.

Airing on WCW's weekly Thunder broadcast, the title switch further devalued a belt which had changed hands with quite alarming regularity over the recent years. At home, it's likely many pinched themselves and wondered if they were stuck in some sort of nightmare they couldn't wake up from.

Arquette lost the belt at Slamboree, even turning heel to align with Jarrett. The whole thing was a mess, with the only good coming from the fact Arquette donated all proceeds from his title run to charity.

David Arquette didn't mean to help WCW into an early grave. Accidental or not, it's nonetheless true that his disastrous title tenure made the company into wrestling's biggest joke. Today, Vince Russo thinks it's a good thing people still talk about this. That says it all.
