9 Pitches For WWE Ruthless Aggression Season 3
6. Owning Mistakes
This is perhaps the most fanciful pitch of the lot, but hear us out: what if WWE were to actually acknowledge the things that went wrong during this period? In fairness, the company has gotten a little better at this over the years, taking shots at Mae Young’s baby hand and the Gobbledy Gooker in recent memory.
These are softballs, though. It would be refreshing to see WWE really dig into some of the crazy decisions that were made, and explain their thinking. First on the list: the Katie Vick saga, in which Triple H accused Kane of murder and necrophilia, before disguising himself as the Bjg Red Monster to muck around in a morgue.
More pressingly, there’s the Muhammed Hassan character, whose gimmick shifted from Speaking out against Islamophobia to Leading a terrorist cell to murder The Undertaker. The latter stunt was aired on the day of the London 7/7 bombings; needless to say it didn’t go down well.
The decision to bring racism into Booker T and Triple H’s WrestleMania XIX match (which Booker lost!) is another misstep that could do with further discussion from those booking the show. It’ll never happen, but we’d certainly be intrigued to hear what those in charge had to say.
