9 Planned WWE WrestleMania 32 Matches That Fell Apart
6. Sting Versus Bray Wyatt
For years, fans have clamored to see Sting and The Undertaker go one-on-one at WrestleMania, but the timing simply hasn't been right. Sting made his debut at WrestleMania 31, where The Undertaker - his streak having been broken the year before - wrestled Bray Wyatt in an afterthought of an affair. Following the summer of 2015, Undertaker's stock was back up, but Sting - who lost to Triple H - seemed to be in limbo. Still, Vince McMahon was reportedly interested in the prospect of Sting versus Wyatt at WrestleMania 32, with the mysterious superstars playing off one another in the buildup and either man potentially redeeming himself after the previous year's loss. Why it fell apart: Sting made his WWE return in September of 2015, challenging Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions. The 56-year-old former franchise of WCW looked good in the main event bout, but toward the end, a powerbomb into the turnbuckle resulted in a serious neck injury for The Stinger. He finished the bout, and despite details about his injury being unclear in the days that followed, the general consensus was that he was in bad shape. News later broke that Sting would need spinal fusion surgery, putting the future of his career in jeopardy - and obviously eliminating the possibility of a match at WrestleMania 32.
