9 Reasons Bray Wyatt Was The Right Choice To Be WWE Champion
It's finally time for the leader of The Family to shine.
Bray Wyatt emerged from Elimination Chamber as WWE champion, and he did so in impressive fashion. Not only did Wyatt eliminate Cena cleanly, he also defeated former champ AJ Styles as well, hitting him with a Sister Abigail as he countered The Phenomenal One coming at him from the top rope.
The feat was comparable to the night Chris Jericho defeated both The Rock and Steve Austin at the same show to become the Undisputed World Champion, and the leader of The Wyatt Family - as splintered as it may be - has been given the ball and it's his time to run with it.
After several years of stop-start pushes, Bray Wyatt has finally been given his chance to shine. Fans have been clamouring for the third-generation superstar to receive his opportunity for years since his debut, and finally their wish has been granted.
As much as wrestling fans respect Bray Wyatt, there is some skepticism regarding his reign as champion, but there are a number of reasons why Wyatt is exactly the man SmackDown should be entrusting the mantle to. He’s earned the spot through his hard work and dedication and as long as the booking doesn’t fail him he’s going to make a fantastic champion.
Here’s why…
9. He Plays His Character Perfectly
Perhaps more so than any other performer on the entire roster, Bray Wyatt has a firm grasp of his character. While many wrestlers are either extensions of themselves or over the top caricatures, Wyatt is one of the more unique personas the promotion has brought to television in decades.
In order for a talent to be successful they need to be fully behind their gimmick, and Bray is exactly that. From promos to look, everything about Bray Wyatt feels real, so much so that most fans have completely forgotten that Husky Harris ever existed.
While the persona of Wyatt is a mixture of several previous gimmicks with the man's own unique twist applied, Bray is nothing like anyone else on the roster and easily stands out among his peers.
Wyatt is enormously dedicated to his role, maintaining kayfabe on social media and through the majority of his interviews. He's the only wrestler to remain in character for his Talk is Jericho appearance and makes every effort possible to keep the line between Bray Wyatt and Windam Rotunda as thin and indiscernible as possible.
It’s that devotion to the role and hard work Wyatt has put forth that make him a great and deserving choice to finally carry the WWE world championship around waist. Hopefully this will be the first of many reigns for The Eater of Worlds.
