Judging by the reaction of the live crowd when Wyatt made the pin on AJ Styles following a Sister Abigail, it seems that they’re ready to buy into Bray as a babyface. Since debuting on the main roster, the cult leader-esque character has been a heel, despite several opportunities to turn him face.
He’s always had a coolness and an aura about him that made him likeable, and creative have gone about as far as they can go with his playing the villain role. Granted his cheers when winning were technically against a heel, but Styles is routinely one of the most rooted-for guys in the company despite being amazing in his role as a bad guy.
Wyatt is a man who was in danger of becoming stale with the same story being told in multiple variations, and he’s run his course as a heel. One of the biggest obstacles was that he never felt like a serious threat because he was constantly losing feuds. Hopefully as newly crowned champion he can be seen as the force that he should be, whether that be as a heel, or otherwise...
