9 Reasons To Be Optimistic About WWE 2018

8. Less Pay-Per-Views

It seems like an utterly preposterous thing to complain about, but there was far too much WWE content in 2017. The return of the brand split a year prior saw RAW and SmackDown go pay-per-view crazy, and 16 major events took place in the year.

This number will only drop to 14 in 2018, but that alone is cause for celebration. Great Balls Of Fire and No Mercy have been stricken from the record, with Money in the Bank finding itself upgraded to the position of a cross-brand show. That pay-per-view has been a ‘Big Five’ in all but name for years, and the upgrade is long deserved.

WWE fans can be forgiven for experiencing pay-per-view fatigue over the last couple of years, so the reduction in the number of shows is very much welcomed. Professional wrestling should always be focused on quality over quantity.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
