9 Reasons To Be Optimistic About WWE 2018

6. The Continuing Women’s Revolution

While I don’t wish to bring any negativity into a piece about optimism, how ridiculous was it seeing Stephanie McMahon lead the crowd in a YES! chant after announcing the women’s Royal Rumble? Extremely ridiculous, to say the least. The sooner Steph stops co-opting history, the better.

Still, there is plenty of cause for optimism for the women of WWE. The aforementioned Royal Rumble is another first to be ticked off, and the match will showcase just how deep the female roster is. Asuka may well dominate main roster women’s wrestling across the year, but she is going to be faced by plenty of challengers along the way.

When you add this to NXT’s roster and the possibility of Ronda Rousey coming in, 2018 is shaping up to be a true landmark year in women’s wrestling. There are a host of dream matches waiting to happen, and Carmella still stands in wait with the inaugural women’s Money in the Bank briefcase. These are exciting times.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
