9 Reasons Triple H vs Roman Reigns Is The Best WrestleMania 32 Main Event

9. We Haven't Seen It Before

There€™s a reason that headlining the biggest of show of the year with a rematch from the previous edition is an anomaly, and that€™s because the prevailing wisdom is that it would lead to lesser interest than if the event€™s marquee bout were something we hadn€™t seen already. Granted, when WWE did run a return of John Cena vs. The Rock on back-to-back WrestleManias both shows did very well financially, but The Rock is a transcendent megastar and Cena is the biggest draw of the last ten years. Wrestling fans are a fickle bunch, and while the clash between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar wound up far exceeding the expectations we all had for it, they€™d have to capture lightning in a bottle a second time around and the odds aren€™t in their favor, not to mention that they€™d need to make use of a different formula and structure for the bout. Although things have improved for him, with interest in Reigns not where the promotion would like for it to be it makes more sense to go with a fresh match-up to carry the show that is expected €“ probably naively at this point €“ to sell 100,000 seats in Dallas.
