9 Things SummerSlam Must Do To Eclipse NXT Brooklyn

1. Something Big After The Main Event…

Adam Cole Debut NXT Brooklyn III

WWE’s backed themselves into a corner somewhat with the stipulation in the Universal title match.

Brock Lesnar has vowed to quit if he loses the title at SummerSlam. However, he’s also being advertised for the next Raw pay-per-view, which seemingly lays waste to the idea of him leaving. It just feels like the company has shot themselves in the foot somewhat. His upcoming schedule is essentially acting as a spoiler and so if Lesnar wins, it’ll feel all too predictable. On the flipside, if he loses, the company will need to either bail on his bookings or ignore the stipulation—neither of which will make them look all that great.

It’s something of a lose-lose situation, but looking beyond the main event's result, we can still see the show close with a bang if something big is saved for the post-match angle. Something similar to that from NXT Brooklyn—in which Adam Cole made his on-screen debut—would certainly do nicely.

A Roman Reigns heel turn or Heyman betraying Lesnar would fit the description of something big, but both are incredibly unlikely. Alternatively, depending on how Ambrose and Rollins fair, the stage could be set for some kind of full-Shield reunion, though again that feels like a long shot.

Ultimately, it’s starting to feel unlikely that we’ll get that big show-closing angle and as such, it’s starting to feel unlikely that SummerSlam will eclipse NXT Brooklyn.
