9 Things To Expect With TNA's New Ownership

1. Billy Goes To War

Dixie Carter Billy Corgan

Billy Corgan loves professional wrestling. He was involved in Resistance Pro in Chicago, where he almost landed them a reality show on AMC. He then ventured to TNA, where he became heavily involved with the product, and put up a couple million dollars of his own fortune to try and keep them afloat. He developed relationships with the wrestlers behind the scenes, and fought like hell to take over the company. Do you think he’s now just going to walk away from the business forever?

What will make things potentially more worrisome for TNA is if Billy Corgan attempts to start up his own company. He reportedly had a much better relationship with the locker room as a whole than Dixie and her team ever did, so if he puts up his money for a new start-up, you can only imagine who will be joining him. The Impact roster could look completely different in a year if Fight doesn’t establish that they’re willing to heavily invest in their new company, and let the wrestlers know that things have finally changed for good.

Billy has seen first-hand everything that TNA was doing wrong. He’s likely learned a lot from his time there, and has assuredly developed a bad taste in his mouth for how things played out. Perhaps the only way he feels he can get back at them is to start up his own promotion.

This move may actually work out better for him, as whatever he comes up with won’t have the stink of the “TNA” letters behind it. He won’t have to try and pick up advertisers and land merchandising deals with a company that sounds like a porno. He also won't have to start out with a boatload of debt to deal with.

With his connections, he can land meetings with network executives. With his money, he can hire some great wrestlers. With his popularity, he can already bring in some fans.

He wanted to run TNA his way, and now he’ll be able to start something brand new with his own unique spin if he feels like it. This could get very interesting.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
